Directions
Make the Hibiscus Simple Syrup Bring the sugar and water to a gentle boil in a small saucepan. Add the hibiscus (or tea bags) and lime juice. Simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is fully dissolved and the liquid turns a deep ruby color. Remove from heat. Strain out the hibiscus flowers or remove the tea bags. Let cool completely. (Set aside — this keeps well in the fridge.)
Build the Drink In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine: hibiscus simple syrup, fresh lime juice, mint leaves, a light dash of fresh orange zest, rum (if using). Shake well until cold and fragrant.
Finish & Serve Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice. Top with prosecco (or sparkling water). Garnish with fresh mint and an orange rind. Sip slowly. Admire the color. Repeat as needed.
Make It a Mocktail Skip the rum. Use sparkling water instead of prosecco. You’ll still get the tart, citrusy, floral depth — and it feels just as intentional.
