🧳 The Best Trips Have No Plans

I traveled to visit friends in Dallas for a few days, and here’s what always gets me about trips like this. If you’re open to it, you end up loving the things you never expected.

They put me up in their house and treated me like royalty. I slept on a memory foam mattress I’m now seriously considering buying. I fell in love with their soaps— Ortigia and Le Labo. I now have to order them for my entire house.

But the best part is that we didn’t really do anything. No big plans. No packed itinerary. No “you have to see this” pressure.

We went to a few of their favorite spots. Some consignment furniture places, a walk on the Katy Trail, a couple of low-key restaurants. Every night we sat on their rooftop, looking out over Dallas. That’s it.

And it was perfect.

Because as nice as it is when people want to plan everything for you, sometimes the real luxury is not having a plan at all. No tours. Nowhere to be. Just time.

I got some work done. I rested. I laughed. I felt like myself again. Sometimes you don’t need the big experience. You just need to be with people you love, and let that be enough.
