📅 The Days After Mother’s Day
We’re just coming off the Mother’s Day weekend and I must admit there’s something really nice about that day in my house. I got to pick the restaurant and for that one day, everyone seemed to agree with me about everything. I’ll take it.
But I’ve also been thinking about what this day means besides getting a reservation, flowers and a gift. I mean the rest of the time. When it’s not Mother’s Day.
Being a mother changes you. Not just once, but over and over again.
Mothering isn’t just about raising kids. It opens you up to different ways of showing up as a mother. But it’s also about how you take care of people in your life. It’s about the way you show up and steady the environment when all is chaos.
Sometimes it’s your kids. Sometimes it’s your partner. Sometimes it’s a friend and hopefully sometimes it’s yourself.
Mother’s Day was the easy part. It’s the random Tuesdays that count.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s this: you don’t get it perfect, but you just keep showing up. For me, that ends up being enough.
