chocolate bark (a little boozy)
This time of year I can think of nothing more than comfort foods, holiday treats and especially chocolate. Chocolate bark is my favorite because I feel it can be relatively healthy! Well, let's be honest... it's not the worst worst sweet you can eat. Plus is there anything more delicious than chocolate sprinkled with nuts, candy, dried fruit or all of the above?
Not to mention how easy it is to make chocolate bark! This is the gorgeous way it can look before you break it up into chunky pieces.
My friend, Diane Falanga, lured me into her kitchen a couple of years ago and gave me a tour of all the bark varieties she was making and getting ready to put in tins to deliver to friends as gifts. I've been hooked on chocolate bark ever since!
What I love most about this is that you can be as creative as you want to be. Dark, milk or white chocolate works, and so does any variety of nuts, dried fruit or candy. The sky is the limit on all the flavors and combinations of bark you can make. The following recipes are just some ideas, but you should take them and run and get creative!
Diane and I got had some fun in the kitchen using some exotic toppings and booze But you can skip the alcohol and it'll still taste great!
Check out the 4 varieties we made:
Chocolate Bark with Papaya, Pecans & Orange Liquor
Milk Chocolate Bark with Rum, Cherries, Ginger, Pistachios & some heat!
White Chocolate Bark with Tequila, Pineapple & Macadamia Nuts

Dear Marianne and Bob:
Gracious, I thought you kids would be winding your way to paths unknown or Miami area by now.
These recipes look “manageable“ for me and oh, my goodness, my family is going to go wild when I bring out a couple of trays, especially the one with orange liquor and the other one with papaya. Love that stuff.
One thing I don’t understand is, with all of your gourmand experience, how can Bob remain so slender?
I’ll be spending Christmas out here in Texas with my son and his family.
This is to wish you and your family a Most Joyous Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
With many blessings to all,
The Other Mary Ann in your lives. 🙏🙂
